Schistura vinciguerrae

Post by The-Lion » Tue Jan 16, 2007 4:42 am

Hi all, I've been keeping a couple of these for a few months now, the largest of which is around the two inch mark give or take a bit & has a hint of red in it's tail but no where near as bright as the specimen pictured in the species index.
Should i worry about the dullness of the tail or does the colour come with maturity?

Hi The-Lion. The distribution of these is wide. >> Irrawaddy and Salween basins in Myanmar, Irrawaddy basin in China. Possibly the Salween basin in Yunnan, China.

I wouldn't worry about the colouration in the caudal fin.

Sorry if i am being dim, are you saying colour varies from region to region? As ever i want my fish to be as content as possible, I'm still relatively new to the hobby so decoding colours is all going towards my learning.

That's what he means. Many loaches that are spread over wide areas in different river-systems have regional variation due to genetical seperation of the breeding communities.

Some can look like completely different species in certain cases.

Martin.
