Help! ... ICH!!

Post by omtay606 »

Hi all, I am treating my loach tank with coppersafe. I raised the temp and just added an airstone. My question is whether or not I should feed these guys during treatment? If so what is the amount to feed them? Please help!! Thanks.

watch how they are feeding
just how sick are they
I would cut down at the start by half
and then judging on how everyone is doing go back to normal feeds.
some feel that coppersafe kills some of the bacteria in the filter.
I don't know
so to be on the safe side lower the food amounts IMO.

I am sure coppersafe kills off some of the good bacteria. That's the problem I am having and that's why I am posting my issue here. My water gets cloudy after I feed the fish and I am forced to do a water change every other day. With the water changes, I add more coppersafe that kills more bacteria causing the water to go cloudy which forces me to do water changes more often...what to do?

They are eating pretty good right now. They are not totally covered with ich yet...I have a total of 17 loaches from 3"-7". I would be terribly sad if I were to loose them... =(

Also, what do you folks feel about the water changes happening every other day? good, bad? Thoughts? Thanks.

Are you sure it's ich?

Here's a very helpful article from the Cichlid Forum

What are your water parameters?
pH, KH, temp, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate?
books. gotta love em!
