Erromyzon sinensis

Martin, Jim, et all. I've just seen some Erromyzon sinensis priced at £7 each. Any personal advice on temperment..etc, before i purchase some and get a pan whacked over my head from the wife.

No personal experience Graeme, but they should be relatively generic Hillstream in behaviour I would imagine.

I used to have a few of these guys. They are similar to chenis in behavior. They tend to be outgoing and active, and they eat anything.
They can be a bit skittish when you approach the tank, but they definately don't hide all the time like S. wui.
They also like to dig in the substrate, presumably for food.
They aren't the most attractive hillstream, but are an interesting fish, none the less. They aren't that common either.

By the way, what were they being sold as? Mine, believe it or not, were sold as "Borneo Suckers". They have to be the least suckerbelly like suckerbelly I have seen. They have that long body and the pec and pelvic fins don't overlap. They can still stick to the glass, however.

These chaps are being sold as Striped Hillstream pleco's, Jim. They are also quite large, almost 3 inches TL. At first glance, you would not think these where Hilly Loaches. Unless you have a trained eye that is!

Yeah, old label with different stock on show is the case here. I asked of area of distribution, but got a grunt back.

I went to purchase a few of these today, but the section that they are in is under Treatment.

Oh bad luck. Was it those that were under treatment or something else in their vicinity? Either way, I'd be quarantining any new purchases. Good luck, I hope you manage to get some nice healthy ones for your collection.

Yeah, the whole coldwater system was under treatment. Probably some Black moors with extra large Pop-eye!

Wow! Thats a beauty!

I'm tempted to just purchase a couple of these Erromyzon sinensis and place them into a Qtank and see if i can keep them alive.
