Ever seen anything like it?

I picked up two Sinogastromyzon wui hillsteam loaches the other day that were mixed in with Beaufortia kweichowensis hillstreams.

I noticed one of the reg hillstreams looked way different from the others. He looks almost half albino colored (obviously not really half albino). Needless to say I bought him too. He looks like a normal Beaufortia kweichowensis except where he is white/cream. I've read that Beaufortia kweichowensis are not bred in aquaria, so these marking are pretty amazing if bred natural. The two pictures below are very fuzzy but the best I could get.Anyone ever see other hillstreams like this?

I see more Sinogastromyzon wui's are becoming available, like i predicted. :wink:

I would keep an eye on them, if i was you. I purchased 8 of these the other week and one died which was much paler than the others. Obviously stressed and couldn't adjust to it's new environment.

That first picture shows a fish with fairly regularly shaped lighter areas. This may be stress related. The second is more worrying as the loss of color is patchy. You should read this:

I would definately keep an eye on the pale and patchy colored fish. You might want to quarentine it for a bit if you can. Good luck!!!

Hmm my hillstream seems completely healthy. No rapid breathing and he's eating. I thought the color was natural since he seems healthy all the way around. I'll definately keep my eye on him. The Sinogastromyzon wui's look great but they haven't eaten yet, i'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm happy to say that my Beaufortia kweichowensis has made a full recovery:) (still being watched closely however) I'm glad he's now healthy.

I think I may be missing a Sinogastromyzon wui since I haven't seen him around. The one I can find looks great, but won't pose for shots.

That's good news. Did you treat the fish?
Also, remember that S. wui can be very secretive so your missing fish may just be hiding.

I just added salt and kept the water extra clean. I hope my S. wui is just hiding.
