I am going to place an order online for some hillies, Of the following, what species would you recommend, based on not being too shy, possibily to breed, not too picky feeding. I dont want my rivertank to appear empty when I observe it. I will get at least 6 of each species to hopefully get at least 1 pair. The species listed below are what is available to me, If i should get 2 or 3 of the different species please suggest that as well.
I'd go for the Pseudogastromyzon cheni and Sewellia lineolata as first choice. If you can squeeze a 3rd species in then either the Gastromyzon ctenocephalus or the Gastromyzon ocellatus. My choice for the third would be the Gastromyzon ctenocephalus. These chaps also hold a lot of character.
I would go with chenis, sewellia, and the gastros if you have room for some of each species. All are gorgeous and will eat a variety of foods. The chenis, of course, will probably breed and the sewellias just might too.
The gastros have the lovely patterns and tail colors.
I do love my beaufortia, but they tend to be much more shy than the other species and lack the visual "zing". If you do want to add beaufortia at some time, you might want to wait until you find a very large specimen. They are very impressive when they get in the 2.5+" range.
How many total are you planning to buy?
