Hmmm...interesting HH. Seems to have residual barbels at the corner of the mouth.

That's just the very large skin flap at the rictus (corner of the mouth). There is also an apparently undescribed species from Bangladesh:

They're not particularly colorful when alive. Very much like Acanthopsoides.

I checked the paper to see what their diet may be but couldn't find it..
The barbles are important in finding food i'd imagine so I guess this species doesn't need it because of the diet and clear water that they live in?

It's like the mouths of the hillstream loaches.
