Yes, I don't think I have ever gotten a decent picture of a kubotai, all you see is a blur. Thanks for the compliment on my tanks:)

My secret for kubotai pictures?

Forget the fish. Focus on something static....a rock they frequent. Hold focus and let the fish come to that postion, then snap. Once in a while it actually works

One nice thing about your fish is that the black areas both in the dorsal and the caudal fins are properly aligned. Compare with what happens with my kubs and nearly all kubs I've seen:



It seems that the dorsal has two lobes and the black stripes on them were not coordinated. The tail pattern is not too good either.

It's the same with my guys. They all have a broken black stripe and varying degrees of broken bars on the tail.
I find the best way of taking pictures is to manually set the focus, and adjust by physically moving the camera backwards and forwards. I've only got decent photos of one - the rest tend to hide when the camera comes out.
