A few pictures

My biggest cheni baby. At some point I might post some pictures of it's pattern development:


The heart really stands out at this size:

They're amazingly well camoflaged against algae-covered rocks:

And finally, not a loach, but I'm very pleased with this shot- my white clouds are usually too quick to get decent photos:


I found another three fry today, but unfortunately not until I'd siphoned them into a bucket Two of them didn't make it and it was a real nightmare getting the last one back in the tank. In the end I had to scoop out all the junk with a spoon and gently lower the whole bucket into the tank I'm a bit gutted about it but there was no way I could have known they were there- they were so small I suspect they hadn't emerged from the substrate until they got hoovered out of there

Cheers everyone.
The new guy was out today and didn't seem any the worse for his big adventure in bucket land. I saw some signs of spawning behaviour again, so no doubt I'll find some more fry sooner or later.

Hard to believe it's the same fish, it's been fascinating watching them develop.

The good thing is that despite this syphoning accident once they start breeding it's usually pretty regular. Therefore you'll get replacements.

I virtually never vacuum my tank....just for that reason. I have done it occasionally, but only if I haven't witnessed an spawning activity in the last 2 weeks. The layout of the tank stops any vacuuming being very effective anyway.

In my tank the sand slowly drift towards the filters and builds up to the point where I occasionlly have to remove a bit. Most of the sand stays fairly clean. It's unfortunte that these guys were in the one spot that does require a good clean every so often.
