I think my calculations may be wrong, can someone correct me.
T ank holds 44 US/gallons.
Filteration =aquaclear 802 powerhead 879 US/gallons P/hr.
=aquaclear 802 powerhead 879 US/gollons P/hr.
=fluval4+ 260 US/ gallons P/hr.
------
equals 2018 US/gallons P/hr.
divide by 44 = 304.
So that means my tank water capacity is getting pumped 304 times per hour.

Hi
Firstly, when I divide 2018 by 44 I get 45.863636...
Perhaps 304 is a bit optimistic...
Secondly, are you sure of the output? On the 240v models the new model 70 (replacing the 802) flows:-
- Output without air: 1514 L / 400 U.S. Gal. per hour
- Output with air: 1317 L / 348 U.S. Gal. per hour
- Reverse Flow: 659 L / 174 U.S. Gal. per hour
So perhaps a recalculation is in order..
Cheers

That is flow only .It will not move nor change all water, only what is close to your intakes unless placed correctly unless a head pressure is rated on your pumps. The water is quickly diffused on exit of the pump. An easy way to see is upon feeding if food is shot all the way around your tank or only several places and then lifted from everywhere or only under the filters
. I actually roll my current through my tanks to keep food in long enough to feed.

You need to read this thread:

It suggests that manufacturer's claimed outputs are somewhat optimistic.
Martin.

Martin,
I actually took the figures of your article "a river runs through", but I used the figure of 3300 for one powerhead, instead of the stated two.
By the way the above article is exellant.
The article you gave a link to is also good, a bit of an eye opener.
At the moment I'm running my river tank with two of the old 802's and the fluval4+ that I had, I'll be adding my external, but it,s leaking at the moment, I,m waiting on a seal coming from fluval, then I will remove the internal.
