CD on some genera and species of loach

Post by The.Dark.One »

Hello

The CD is finally out. It is available for £3 plus p&p, by pm'ing me. You might want to speak to someone who has a free pdf first before ordering as you may be disappointed upon paying for and receiving it (all the images of live fish are available on the Internet, except two of my images)! Since publication I've noticed a few grammatical errors but never mind. What I have written may interest people who are interested in Botiids. I'm hoping that it will spur an ichthyologist on to do more work on these fish, even if it disproves my theories! The articles wouldnt have been possible without the help of all the people listed in the Acknowledgements.

A brief summary of each article:

Fishes of the genus Botia Gray, 1831, in the Indian region

A discussion on the validity and distribution of species of Botia in the Indian region. Botias of Myanmar, Yunnan in China, and Thailand are also discussed but not in as much detail.

Pages 1-39, figs 1-65.

Mainland fishes of the genus Syncrossus Blyth, 1860

A short discussion on the validity and distribution of species of Syncrossus. An earlier type species designation has been found for Syncrossus, there is a discussion on Hymenphysa / Hymenophysa, and a discussion on the location of the previously ‘lost’ paratype of 'Botia lucas-bahi'.

Pages 39-49, figs 66-85.

A new subgenus of Acanthocobitis Peters, 1861 – This has already been published on paper on 29/10/07 in a separate work (some extra images also) so is available from that date. PDFs are available of that version too, or in print at £10 inc p&p.

A new subgenus, and short discussion on synonymy of some of the species.

Pages 49-52, figs. 86-92
