Hey icewall, what kind of substrate is that?

What kind of rock and size? I think I'll get stuff like that for my next tank.

I was actually recommended this sand from another LOLer. It's Quikrete Commercial Grade fine sand. I really like it because the grains are very uniform in size and easy for even my little kuhli loach to sift.

It's also very cheap. It cost me $4 per 50lb. bag. Just have to make sure you wash it before putting it in the tank though, because it can make the water dirty. Once thoroughly rinsed, it doesn't cloud water at all.

Thanks. There is a distinct lack of good substrate over where I live and I've been searching for stuff like that for a long time now.

How large of a tank do you have these guys in?

They are in a 72 gallon bowfront aquarium. I have two filters running on it right now, but they are both a little small, so I have a Magnum 350 coming to tank the brunt of the filtration. I also need to buy another pvc pipe.

Also, in the next few years, I do plan on getting a 200 gallon. But I need a house first, and moving into one soon just isn't looking good, at all... but, someday I'll get that tank.

Yeah we went to the local home depot for our substrate and it works great! Very uniform dirt cheap and we bought several bags of the stuff. The only thing is it gets dirty so we had to wait a few days for the water to clear up before we put the fish into the tank.
