Welcome here, I'm pretty new here myself although I've used the information on the website extensively for several months now.

I've recently bought an aquarium that I want to start up as a loach tank (I have to wait until the new year before I can pick it up  ), but I want at least two Chaetostoma thomsonii in the tank. I think they're known as the Bulldog pleco and they look awesome!

Yours look awesome! Do you have a specific tank for your catfish?

How are they in a specific tank? Usually they seem very calm in a community tank, but recently I've seen one of the pleco's at the lab I work develop some territorial behavior.
It's something I want to keep in mind if I were to combine the bulldog with the loaches.

Hi,
I am not an expert, but I thought I would tell you my experiences in community tanks with loaches. I don't have species specific experience.

By Bulldog Pleco, do I assume you mean the Rubberlip Pleco? http://www.aquariumlife.net/profiles/pl ... 100074.asp

I have two. One is completely peaceful and hearty. He lives with Clowns, Striatas, Yoyos, Tiger loaches and gets along just fine. He's out every evening and sometimes during the day to clean the glass and tank. He's a perfect community tank inhabitant.

The second is relatively new, and lives with Skunk loaches and a bumblebee catfish. The rubberlip immediately found a coconut hut he liked and booted the skunks and the bumblebee out of the hut. No major aggression, just pushed them out. He comes out after the lights are out, eats his algae wafers, and goes back to his hut. I was hoping he would clear up the algae on the glass of the tank, but he doesn't seem too interested in doing that. I have 7 Otos in there too, and they haven't cleaned the glass either. One of these nights, I'll move a Birstlenose in there and let him show them how it's done. :) I adore my catfish.

Thanks for that Starsplitter. I think it will be o.k. and I don't really mind if they don't clean the glass much, I just love the way they look. It's this one...
