Thanks for the reply Keith :)
There seems to be some different opinions re the effect of Flubenol and Levamisole. As far as I how found out, Flubenol does not cure f.ex. Cammalanus... but Levamisole is reported to do this... this is one of the reasons I tried both meds. However, no fish shows any signs of worms "coming out" so it must be something internal going on. You`re idea of Prazi is very good. Thanks!! I have been so focused on my previous sucsess with Flubenol/Maracyn that I have not considered the option of using Prazi... Do you think I should start Prazi after the Flubenol cure, before another round of Maracyn, or should I do vice/versa??

Kind regards
Marius

I alternated:
Levamisol
Antibiotic (Maracyn + Maracyn II)
Prazi
Antibiotic

and this alternating of meds with thorough water changes, and gravel vacs between meds made the difference.

Thanks Diana!
What dosage did you use with Levamisole... 2 ppm?

ditto with Diana's treatment method.

To bulk up the skinny loaches, you might try to feed them bloodworms and nothing but bloodworms for a few weeks. It would be easier to tell if and how much they are eating if they are in a different tank than the healthy loaches. So I'd move the others to a different tank.

Been a while....
I started with Shari's article here at Loaches, then had to do some math to break up the pills I got and match a 3 gallon tank.
I do not remember what the final dose was, but Shari's information has it.

I have been using Praziquantel for 11 days now. I have followed the dosage recommendations made by some very experienced Discus people who use this medication a lot. This is a quite higher dosage than what is stated by the manufacturer. It may seem that this is working. Of the 2 clowns that clearly was infected the smallest one shows no symptoms anymore. The largest one still has clear symptoms but I guess it takes longer for him to bulk up due to the fact that he has more body mass to recover. The Prazi cure ends on sunday (14 days in total) and then I will do another Maracyn 1+2 after that. If the others still show no symptoms they will be moved to another q-tank. I really hope this might sort things out...

That's good to hear.

Is the larger one eating?

Oh yes!! :D :D When food enters the tank, he`s the first one to grab it. He`s been like this all the time since I got him about a year ago. Constantly hungry and always on the move. He`s also the one which is most fond of snails. When I give MTS he goes bananas :) The fact that he`s always so desperate for food makes me quite convinced that he is infected with some kind of internal parasite. (I know clowns are always hungry, but this guy is significantly more desperate than the others)

Does he get enough to eat? Does he eat until his belly is fully plumped?

I always find it difficult to say when they have had enough  I have some special hi-protein pellets which make them all bulge up a lot when they get it. Including this big one.
