we have had some good news the builder at the new house has finally been sacked so we now have another bloke starting soon, who reckons he can get the place finished pretty quick so hopefully i wont have to wait to long to get the new tank up and running. so Emma now wont have to fish sit for the lovely oddball for so long

Emma thank you so much for offering to show me your fish. that would be great. i would really love to, but this time im not sure i will be able to . my bosses have now decided to go onion digging your wat on thursday instead, and then i will probably have to go back to work (in cambridge), rather than head home. i may stop by if i can get away with it though! thanks again.

thanks for all your info on sewlia tank sizes. i will take note and start the search for a 3ft tank - that should fit in well. i think i also need a pay rise!

How large is it?
Yoyo's tend not to maintain sharp pattern like we see here above about 2.5"....if it is this size of large it may be a variant Kubotai rather than a Yoyo?

It's 3" total length, and came directly from India.

How can you be sure it was collected in India? Just curious, not doubting.

I order Yo-yos directly from India, not through a wholesaler, or from another country who have Indian fish in stock. It's a company we've been using for a long time, and he only sells native fish.

That looks amazingly like my "Sergeant Major Loach"es that I got from Petsmart a little more than a year ago. I posted the best pic I could get on my flickr site My largest is approximately 2.5" they are crazy loaches always moving and going if they are not sleepin in the cave thing. I put my lone Kubotai in there and it schools like they were brothers which I am thankful for as the poor thing was so lonely after its friends died and I couldn't get more. I love mine and if yours is indeed similar they are so active and fun to watch.

Does anyone know the ray counts for Botias? -- are they all the same, or what are the numbers? Perhaps it makes sense to check this new loach against Yoyo's and Kubotai's this way.

To me it looks similar to an older kubotai where the spots keep getting smaller, dividing as they age. I realize kubotais are from Myanmar.

Very interesting looking fish! That looks a bit like the so called "veiled" pattern of a kubotai but in the extreme.
This species certainly seems to exhibit a wide range of patterns. Just check out the species index pics.

But then again, it looks somewhat like an older yoyo, too....
which it probably would be if it was from India. Hmmmm
