If I had another lifetime I'd move to Bormeo and study these down to the genetics!
Give me a call and I'll go with you. :D
For now I'm trying to save some money for a short Borneo trip in the near future.

About the algae growth on the rocks; I really don't know what's the trick.
In both tanks I try to do a waterchange of 25- 30% twice a week(sometimes 40 % once a week) and sometimes add some micro-element fertilizer.
Hillstreamtank 1 has some decent algae growth, in hillstreamtank 2 it seems to be more difficult.

Looking at Dr. Tan's book, no mention of red in the caudal fin of g. zebrinas. The head markings aren't right either, look more like g. crenastus which can have red in the caudal. ??????
It surely looks like the G. crenastus on Michael Lo's website.

Hi Kajsa12.
For now I'm trying to save some money for a short Borneo trip in the near future.

I traveled to Borneo to watch Gastromyzon in March of the year before last.
http://forums.loaches.com/viewtopic.php?t=17516

Unfortunately I was not able to witness Gastromyzon because rivers rose by wet season.

According to the advice that I heard from a local guide, you had better have seemed to go in the dry season.
It was said to be a good season from June to August from the guide.

Possibly I may make revenge next year.

Thanks Odyssey, I'll keep that in mind.
Probably I will visit Sarawak, but I'm not sure which part; The southern part of Sarawak seems to get the most rainfall.

New one: I think it's also a Sinogastromyzon, probably wui. But first i have to read this pdf carefully; There seem to be a lot of different Sinogastromyzon species.

Thank you for very attractive pictures.

The difference in the spot patterns of Loaches is very interesting for me.
I think the pattern of G.zebrinus is changing when time has passed.

Yes, I think that's true.
Probably young specimen are striped and when they grow older the pattern will change to spots.

What is the little disc? And how come it doesn't blow away with the water current?

It's an interesting video best!
I felt like keeping Hypergastromyzon after a long time.
I'd like to know what the tablet is, too.
I'd like to copy by all means.

What is the little disc?
It's a tablet for herbivorous fish. The ones in the video contain 20% Spirulina.
I also use JBL Novofect.
And how come it doesn't blow away with the water current?
When you give it a firm push and turn, it will stick to the aquariumglass or the stones/rocks.
