I have something similar, although a little browner, that grows in the waterfall of my HOB when the water line stays below it for a little while. When I do a water change and fill the tank to the brim, the rubbernose pleco eats it. At first I did the messy job of cleaning it off but once I forgot and he did it for me! So hillstreams aren't the only ones who like it.

They seem to have pretty similar tastes, but plecos are more efficient.

Ten Gastros cleaned up my 29g from dyadems in about a week, a similar problem in the new 125g was solved in a week by a single 3" BN.

(But thanks for the idea: I never even thought about offering this seaweed to plecos.)
