NO....look closely.....you can see tubercules on its nose.
Actually, Bobby that first closeup you posted was clearer on the tubercules.

Based on what I remember of pintius' comments, the spots where not long lasting. Maybe the 4 days made a difference. Sorta like he's going out of 'heat'. lol

The first photo definitely shows them better but the second one is also a good close-up and they seem to be fading.

Would be interesting to see a close up shot in a week...

when i first got my clown loaches, the two bigger ones fought exactly like that too and the other one kept out of the way. At first i thought the 2 that were fighting were male and they were fighting over the female one (the one that wasn't getting involved).
I do find it interesting that they were actually fighting for dominance.

Thats why i love clown loachies, they are such fascinating cuties.

Welcome. I absolutely love the quality of those pictures, the best loach pictures I have seen ever. Now, I am convinced, I will order my SLR tomorrow. Regarding the "tubercles", there will be no question, you will know for sure if the fish has it. Look forward to more pictures of those puppies, even the battered one Those gashes look pretty deep. Do you have any other loaches besides Clown loaches?

Just the five clown loaches.

I keep African cichlids. Lake Malwai Hapochromine and Aulonocara and Lake Tanganyikan tropheus, shellies and cyprichromis, and one wild caught goby.

The clown loaches are in a 120g tank with adult haps and peacocks. In fact, they have always been with the Malwians since I have had them for the 3 1/2 years.
