Other Sony Cybershot's with 6Mp are the DSC-H2 and the DSC-S500
They all have Macro settings. The S500 is good down to 5 cms, the others to 2 cms.
Ought to be good for fish pics. Read the manual.

Manuals have never liked me much, but I'll try re-reading it. Makes it more fun when you havn't got any fish in the house to try it out on.

What you have to remember with digital is that unlike film cameras you get instant results and it costs you nothing more than time.
Read the manual, set the camera. Give it a whirl. See what results you get.
Remember what worked and what didn't. Experiment. You'll find the learning curve is unreal compared to film.
Big minus with this particular camera is that it does not feature a macro mode. Minimum focus distance is 4.75 inches, so we can't expect any ultra closeups from you. However, with 6Mp it's possible to take pics and blow up the subject without losing too much detail.

speaking of film cameras, i am taking Photography this term in school...
today was our 4th day, and we have started making 'pin-hole' cameras...its basically two half-boxes..one slides into the other..and you poke a pin-hole (hense the name) in the inside box..and put photographic paper against the opposite wall...then you open the box enough to expose the photo paper with just the right amount of light, then close it...
after all that, we will develop them...and see if we failed..haha
Picture of one that is close to the ones we are making...
so yea, this shall be neat-o..i will see if i can capture any fish pictures..haha
