lol, i have another spoon that is identical to that one but without all the marks. i will leave out the cucumber tonight and test it tommorow with this spoon. i didn't see any debris before and when i saw them biting the spoon it didn't appear that anything was coming off. i put my face within 1 inch of the tank when they were biting the spoon and got a decent look.

my conclusion is that it was a prior accident to the spoon. i have tried to catch the loaches playing with the spoon and they havn't played with it since the first week. maybe because it was a foreign object. so they were interested for about a week and lost interest.....lol...

The spoon looks like one that recently came out of my garbage disposal. It made much more noise than clowns clicking.

You're keeping the spoon out of the tank now, right? I've heard that some fish enjoy playthings, but I wonder if further abuse of the spoon (if any, seeing as they've seemingly stopped) could damage them.
