Tinman, I've got a generator too. We get too many powercuts here. Most don't last more than a few mins, but on occasion, the power has been off for hours. I just couldn't take the risks with the fish in my collection and the generator was surprisingly cheap at around £100 from Halfords (a car & bike supply store over here).
