I use rubbermaid containers for sumps and have no issues. So if the concern is will a rubbermaid container hurt the fish, my answer is no, since my aquarium water is in constant contact with a rubbermaid product.

When transporting water in a bucket, cut off a tree branch with leaves (a good deal of it) and put it in the water. This will act as a baffle and decrease sloshing in the water- decreases water movement.
Decreased water splash-mess in the car, decreased stress on fish, and also provides hiding places during transport.
Just be careful with your choice of shrub/tree branch chosen... no ficus or other poisonous or prickley plants. Also no recent pesticide application.
Living leaves probably won't supply O2.
