Salt, huh? I haven't heard about that before, used in that way. When I moved my fish long distance, I had mild tranquilizers for fish added to their water. It was a good thing I used them, because the fish were in plastic bags for a total of 15 hours (my flight, including layovers).

The salt is a method of reducing the impact of stressors by influencing the gradient of water and ions across the gills and skin. I will try and explain this in more detail in the post I'm working on. (I hope to post it tomorrow.)

Although I didn't mention it when I evidently terrorized the OP, even though they might seem "fine", conditions that are not optimal can also severely reduce lifespan as well.
