Emma, What is that substrate you have? Is it regular sand?

Thanks mistergreen, but I thinked I have fluked this one!

Never really been that good with plants - there must be something about this set up that these ones enjoy. The sand is just regular black silica sand, very fine grain.

They are 42" Powerglo T8s, which I think are 40w each. The other thing about this tank is that there are no coverslides (all my other tanks have coverslides) so more of the light reaches the plants directly. Some of the really tall specimens are practically touching the bulbs! Nitrates and phosphates are minimal as I do plenty of water changes and use solely RO water.

i wish i could get plant growth like that. it looks wonderfull, and so good for babies
