These are stunning pictures! Thanks you very much for posting them!
Have you kept any
cobitis or
Iksookimia species?

Hello daspricey,
I only kept
Cobitis taenia for a short time in tanks, because it's to difficult for me to make cold temperatures in winter.
I never have seen a living
Iksookimia
I studied
Cobitis sinensis in the field in Taiwan. Here is an underwater photo of this species in Bei Shih (River Bei):

Dear Jeff,
thank You very much for answering. Whatever have gone wrong, it's gone. I learned, that there is a life without loaches, too: wink:
As You can see by the discussion in the forum (
http://forums.loaches.com/viewtopic.php?t=14453) and material I sent to Emma I'm still interested in contributing. I will have a look to "Plone" (interesting at a first glace, that I tried a few minutes ago) and then we can plan how to contribute in future. In meantime Emma and other moderators have some material to use.
Hope Your job is not filled with too much stress and we keep in contact.
All the best,
Gerhard "Schmerlenotto" from Germany.

The eurasian genera Cobitis and Sabanejewia are distinguished by the following characters:
Sabanejewia: body pigmentation usually organized in 1 dorsal and 2 lateral longitudinal zones and caudal with 12 branched rays
Cobitis: body pigmentation usually organized in 1 dorsal and 4 lateral longitudinal zones and caudal with 14 branched rays

No,
S. balcanica not always occur in those hot springs called "Petzea". There are a lot of spots in the balcan area where this species can be found. This population is insofar interesting for us because it tolerates temperatures higher than 20 °C, what makes aquarium care more convenient

Yes, Jörg Bohlen wrote in an article about the genus Sabanejewia that he breed them without hibernation (Aquaristik Fachmagazin Nr. 175).
I hope one day I have some of them in my tank
Gerhard, are you interested in the cobitis I've shown here?

Hi Thomas,
thanks for the offer. But I fear all my tanks are "full". And in a few months I'm on my next trip to Thailand and Malaysia …
I guess You know, what that means …
Regards to Aachen!
Gerhard
