Mark, I think you should put this into a LOL article and we can add pics of your set up, the adults and the little 'un to it. What do you think? I will get the Y. sidthimunki article up on site this weekend for you.

Could you mention the decor in your tank please? Some of the "planks" out there will say "but loaches eat eggs and fry". The big tank probably helped save them.

Maybe you could try the emporers next. It would be nice if they were more available and more affordable.

I think you should be able to see most of the decor in the photos above, there are some black plastic pipes at the back of the tank and I think it is the one at the right hand end that they spawned in, the plants are all artificial apart from the Java fern that is dotted about here and there.

Managing to spawn the Emperors would be just amazing, we will have to wait and see

One thing I have done and did before the Kubotais went into that tank which seemed to make a difference to the fish was the addition of the double ended power filter in the front left hand corner of the tank. In the pictures I have just posted you can see the power filter on the left hand side of the left hand end photo, there is a powerhead at the top and connected to the other end of the 4 canisters is another powerhead upside down that pushes water the full length of the front of the tank and the fish love sitting in the cobbles in the flow.

Congratulations on the spawing. Thats very impressive.

your very lucky to have had at least 1 fry survive in that tank bud,
my tank looks like an urban jungle compared to yours.
as you know barbs are the most tenacious of hunters once they've got something in their sights.

I second Mick. I dont know if a single fry would ever survive in my tank...then again, who knows. Mark's spawning of kubotai and sidthimunki have serious implications for the future of loaches in the hobby. If more people can figure out how to spawn them in captivity with greater frequency, perhaps there will be less dependency on capturing wild caught fish.

I think you should try to get your Emperors to breed.
it would be worth your efforts if they did.
and we'd all fall over in shock if they did breed!
