Steve was working up at Lincoln today and had a look at their 'Burmese Orchid Botia' and they are exactly the same as ours. Andy, do you think it would be possible that BAS got theirs in at the same time as a new batch of Yoyos (which did appear on that same list for the first time in a while that same week) and got the suppliers common names mixed up when labelling the tanks?

i think they have the same supplier as you, ( patrick ).

Yes, I know they use the same supplier and I also know that Yoyo loaches appeared on that particular stock list that same week too. But if you know the staff well and such a mistake is not likely, fair enough, it was just a thought.

It seems odd that more than one type of loach was sent out under that name that week though. He still has them listed, I might try for more anyway and see what turns up this time!

Just thought I'd mention that I received a 2nd batch of these 'Burmese Orchid Botia' on Tues night, and they were exactly the same as the 1st batch, except very slightly bigger. So it would seem that BAS were either sent the wrong bag of fish in that box of theirs (it happens), or they mixed up the fish they did get in.

Hi Emma
I agree with Mick about Andy at BAS but it's not just Andy that does the labelling from what I can gather? Recently BAS did mix up labels with two kinds of Schistura that you also got in, putting the wrong label on each type, so it is possible that they did it this time. Certainly I cannot see that the ones they were selling as Burmese actually came from Myanmar as they just looked like one of the almorhae complex to me and as such wouldnt have been from Burma/Myanmar. I think theyve mixed up.

Hi Emma , thanks for this news , i personally think that BAS made the error ! because they had some small Histrionica's at the same time , just like the ones you had , plus i think you said that Patrick also had small Almorhae's on his lists ? although i still thought the Almorhae's at BAS looked a little different to the standard ones ! and as they have grown they look a bit golden around the head , ha ha ha or perhaps this could just be wishful thinking on my part , lets face it if somthing looks just a tad different about a Botia, then im interested ! unless it turns out to be a hybrid , then i'm pretty sick .
