Thanks for the reply.

As you are aware in Physics you always go back to the basics.

If this person "is such a bigshot writer" why does he not know proper etiquette.

As little as I know about the internet (or any other publication medium) using another person's work product for derivation without acknowledgment is not acceptable.

Also replication of another person's work product without permission is not acceptable.

Perhaps unacceptable behavior is what it takes in this persons eyes to become "a bigshot writer".

In both these cases the photos in question were being used to sell fish at auction.

In addition to the copyright issues, I consider it fraud, unless the fish look EXACTLY like the fish in the picture. Otherwise it's at a minimum misrepresentation, mostly cause you don't want to people to know what they are buying.

Emma:

As much as I tease you for being so evil for tempting me with loaches I'll never have, I take it personally when someone misuses the beautiful pictures that you take.

I would feel the same if someone stole the Mona Lisa and passed it off as his own. I'm actually thinking about writing up an article on how common this practice seems to be in the auction trade and what the general legalities are (even though I'm not a lawyer in real life, I like to scare people and make them think I am  )

I've been told that I'm at my best and most eloquent when I have a cause that I believe in.

You're very welcome and most fervently I hope these experiences don't prevent you from continuing to torment me with the wonder photos that you take (well, part of me thinks that anyways).

I've received one more e-mail, a rather long and more or less apologetic one. I don't really know what to make of it, but it sounds like the person might be... well... stressed. I think that might have caused his strange reaction.

Anyway... All's well that ends well.

Emma:

Please excuse the humor here but

How about Ron???

I spent over an hour in contemplation, drafting, editing and reediting of my post.

(Note that Ron is ducking and running for cover as he is pressing the Enter Key!)
