Would like to give an update on my clown. He's healing beautifully. Extremely active as it should be and very noticeably bulking up. Haven't fed medicated food all week. Friday I removed hopefully all traces of the Prazipro through water change and carbon. So very pleased with the progress.
Thanks again Loachloach and Mike.

Any new pictures of the loach?
I hope he's doing great and has recovered.

So glad you asked LoachLoach. He/she is doing wonderfully and nearly all its weight is back. Here is a video, hopefully clear enough to be seen. Perhaps compare to the very first.

Oh, wow, he's definitely gained weight and is recovering.
Nice job, well done
This is just like my platy's progress. The belly first rounded up a bit and then she gained weight all over the body and around the head. Although your clown looks almost recovered now.
Judging by my platy, the disease does not affect their life span the slightest or cause any further health issues once sorted out. So I think that's the start of a nice life for your clown loach.
I love stories with good end...

Fran, Uncle Ned's was THE best lfs in MA when I lived there. Kinda lax on feeding sometimes, lots of rare fish, but not as iffy as others (the basement place...whatever it was called..Lovely Pets? TB in many fish? Ish!). Loved Ned & even more his brother.
I had a clown loach that ONLY ate veggies & anubias flowers & developed knife-back (not from Ned). I tried several TXs, to no avail over a year, so don't blame yourself, there's only so many treatments we have available to us OTC. I did, AFAIR, metro, prazi, levamisole & an antibiotic too. I'm glad he seems to be recovering for you...Good luck!! I hope you've licked whatever it was...sometimes there's no good answer.

Certain parasites including spironucleus, can go from the intestine into the blood stream and thus not curable anymore. Also of course certain type of worms can infect organs and tissue where they are not treatable. Bacterial diseases are a consequence of either water quality issues or parasitic infections.
The other problem is if the disease is environmentally triggered(stress of some sort) and the environmental issue was not corrected in the first place. This also includes stress from tank mates, water quality, food, etc.. The weakest links give in and one gets the odd fish succumb to disease.... Sometimes we can't help genetically weak fish thrive unless you go the extra mile for them alone.

Hi Nancy and Loachloach.
Happy to continue to report a very healthy and, assuming, happy and fat clown. I still attribute the Prazipro as the turning point.
Love hearing the new input. And yes, Uncle Ned's, though dusty and flea infested, had the healthiest fish I've seen overall. I would go back if I ever get my dream size tank.
Thank you again.
Fran

Things are fabulous.
Clown has shown no signs of lingering illness. Weight gain seems permanent. Nitra-Zorb is one of my favorite creations and Prazipro proved very worthy. Tank nitrate never exceeds 20. It's a wonderful thing. I couldn't be happier--maybe for the exception of the fish.
