Fish can be troublesome creatures

Just saw my girl, she's looking heaps better. Think I'm clear of the woods. The one week treatment of melafix is finished but since there is still visible sign of injury I'm going to keep going with it but at a very reduced dose.

She still won't pose for a photograph though!!

good to hear she's doing better If you were a super model involved in a horrible accident would you pose for photos before healing? Poor little glammer loach has had a hard week

Heh, actually I think she's a boy.

Whenever I have an accident or similar I find that I take rather a lot of photographs of it! I'd have posted my thumb operation photos in the off topic forum long ago if I didn't think I'd get kicked off for it! Guess I'm strange.

... did you get a chance to take a picture yet? ... she propably is extra careful right now, knowing she could be hurt easily...

... I had no problem taking a pic. of a gravid Kuhli, that I found dead sticking out of the pangio box an hour ago, ... it was sad finding her that way ... such a strong girl - picked a too small hole... unbelievable, these days

later I will start another thread, re. gravid kuhlis, and put some links for pic´s... she had plenty eggs... never had a fish die that way ever before

....that can't be a good sign. I don't know for sure who it's from. The powerhead brings all the poo in the tank over to one corner.

what did you feed last?

Been trying out that new Tetra Pro colour stuff. I say trying out, I've been stealing it from Lee on a daily basis. I've noticed red poo for a few days now and that is concurrent with the time I've been using that food. Hopefully thats all it is. I aways throw a bit of JMC catfish pellets and some high protein granular food. I occasionally throw in the odd Hikari sinking carnivor pellet as a treat, but haven't done that for quite some time.

(I write like I'm a proper Englishman. You'd never guess I actually sound like a Yank - sort of.)

Cut back on the high protein granular food. Maybe 3 times a week (thats if your feeding them this more than 3 days) and give up on the Tetra Pro colour food! The normal Tetra Pro is good enough, even if it's free! This is my personal preference though.

Hoorah! 'It' is out and about quite a lot today, rummaging around for food and getting involved in full on chases! First time I've seen such normal behaviour since this all started. I managed to get one sneaky shot from my desk. Its pretty poor as it was on full zoom and I never use the flash when photographing my tanks.



That hideous knarled root type thing in the bottom right corner is where it's been hiding out almost all the time. Here's a closer view of the same shot. You can just about make out a grey band around the body where it's healed up.



I'll try for some better shots after I've secured some food for myself!

she is looking a lot better. that band is colouring up a bit and not looking as brutal as it was.

It was me, my 2 clowns got stuck in a tower!! Are you sure its was stuck for? Mine were actually coming out when i wasnt about, they were 2 new ones. I just kept a close eye on them, turned the tower on its side and waited with tempting food and lightsout (i have a moon light so can sill see). I reckon it may of been stuck by the sounds of it and then dislodged itself after loosing some weight in the gap!! I have a fake tree rout and i jammed the holes up with resin and then stuffed a load of java moss in the top large hole jt encase. No prob!!
