It did not go OK here, crossostoma's are considerably more active than vannies and did not let them eat (this is when I had a few of each together). Possibly only one will not do much damage.

mikev, if you lived closer, I'd give you the crossostoma(s).

If you are ever in NE Ohio look me up.

Now that it has settled in, I took some photos, let me know what you think.

I'm 90% sure it is the same species, the unsure point is that my recollection was that young Crossostoma's had no markings on the fins, and I think yours has. Reflective squares I see on your pic makes it at least a close relative.

So far, it is only tormenting a few of the vannies, but mostly it's keeping to itself on the rock it claimed.

Will definitely in mind mikev. If it becomes more than I want to deal with I'll let you know.

I was at walmart talking to the fish girl when I looked at the tank where the vannies were, and poof, there appeared this tiny 1/2 inch or so baby vannie, she said " You want it? It'll just die here. No charge!" I said yes and proceeded home.

Also with the current from the powerheads whats the best way to feed these guys?

All I have to say is... If I was single I'd be dating the fish girl......she's also giving me some of her old 55 gallon tanks that she has at home. She's a great girl, not as great as my wife, but still great

Its good you put that last part about the fish girl not being as great as your wife.
That's a cool find. That fish is probably no more than a few months old.
As for feeding, I have two methods that work for me.
In one tank, I turn off the powerhead during feeding and for about a 30 minutes to an hour after.
In another tank, I tried that, and the fish freaked out. So, in this tank I place the bloodworms, brine shrimp and pellets in areas sheltered from the current like next to the powerhead or behind a piece of driftwood. I also do some of that in the first tank so that all the food is not blown around the tank after the powerhead is plugged back in.
The fish will also search around for any scattered food as they have a very good scense of smell.
