Is there an age or size when the tigers/skunks become aggressive? I have been very lucky in that I have Green Tigers (3") and Skunks (2.5") and no major prooblems. The Skunks and Tigers are in different tanks, and chase each other, but leave the other fish alone. No major aggression, no frayed fins. Lots of hiding places. To the Skunks the other fish do not exist. They chase each other and click madly, but never seem to be aggressive. They are beautiful, lively fish. The Green Tigers might be the prettiest fish I have. They are twitchy, but I never seen any aggression.
Maybe it is because they grew up with their tankmates.
I know I am living on borrowed time, but I thought maybe they hit a certain size, maturity, . . . and that clicks in the aggression. Right now the fish are lively, spunky, but not mean.
Thanks guys, I may well expand the latter part of the article at some point as originally this had been destined for a magazine with space constraints.
Will keep you updated re: the S. reversa situation!
I have really studied up on these lately and enjoyed this article immensley. The reason for my infatuation was seeing your stores tank of these. I am still giddy about it.....and getting my own pile of attitude growing here with my wifes blessing btw
