tank shape

Post by mkoff32 »

I know a lot of folks say 75 gallons is the minimum sized tank for clowns.... but what about tank shape? Would an octagon shaped 75 gallon take be insufficient for them due to a lack of swimming area in regards to length?

They do need a longer foot print in their tanks. Octogon's are generally tall, but lacking in length which is what you'd want for your loaches.

Would 5-6 clowns be too many for a rectangle shaped 75 gallon?

Not to start out with, but eventually (years-depending on how fast they grow) they will need something bigger.

I have a 72 gallon bowfront with 3 year old clowns. They are outgrowing it.
38 tanks, 2 ponds over 4000 liters of water to keep clean and fresh.

Happy fish keeping!
