Hi first I would like to ask if this guy is for sure a YOYO I am not to sure because I have never seen these this big before. I have only seen them at about .5''-1''

This one is about 5'' but not that fat and it eats a lot. I know I was told I need to find more for him/her to be with. I have 3 other about the same size coming for this one. Will 4 be OK for now?

Sure looks like one of my pair. Mine are about 4 inches long, but only one is as reticulated as much as the one in your photos. The other of the pair still has yo-yo written on its sides. Anyway, I'm no expert so take this with a very large grain of salt.

What have you made your platforms from? Looks like you have cut the material to suit.

Definitely a Yo-Yo, B.almorhae. You may want to have a think about the substrate you keep them in as well as getting a few more like you plan.

What do you mean have a think about the substrate? I have from river rocks, small bolders, pee gravel and fine gravel so the can dig. I only left out sand LOL

sand is ideal for loaches. its soft on their delicate barbels, which they use for snuffling around for food and snails to eat. the gravel can be harsh on the barbels.

pea gravel, i find, can make the water hard. when i set up my first tank, i didnt realise, and could not get the water soft at all. now with sand, i have no trouble. my loaches also eat lots more snails now.

your fish is definately a yoyo. i have one at about 6", and very chunky, and my others are a bit smaller. How long have you had him?

You certainly have a beautiful Yoyo with a reticulate d pattern thy often get as they mature. Very nice.

Hi the pee gravel has been soaked for years and used in many tanks

I would not use sand in this tank just because I dont want my filters to get damaged. I use this really fine gravel that is light enough for them to dig in but not get wooshed around and into my filters. It wont hurt them as well

I added 2 more one about 3'' and the other about 3.5'' today and the 3 have bonded already

I am still going to pick up 3 more that are said to be 5'' soon. I have never seen them this big and got lucky that both were traded in to the LFS I visit. The other 3 coming are also going to be trade ins

I have had this one for about a week. The clown i have had for about 5 months. I have to post pix of them or a vid

very nice and distinct full-bodied pattern Yoyo you got there! mine is way too fat till the belly pattern faded due to over-stretched!

very high water movement helps. 2 of mine were lumps of lard when i got them, and have slimmed right down.

they dont need feeding every day (but they think they do!) and be aware of how rich the foods you give are. dont feed stuff with very high protein if you are wary of them getting too porky.

hopefully, now you have a nice group of them, they will be nicely active which will help

eating like pigs is quite normal

Now I do have an ok sized group since I joined the site I have found with lots of searching 8 other YOYO's for this guy

The smaller ones are about 3'' there are 4 of them the larger ones are all about 5''-6'' I am having to buy all of them from private sellers and they wont let them go cheap

Best deal I got was $10 for two of the larger ones I dished out more for some of the smaller guy's. They cost me more than my CL's did if I work out the price of each one.

I have a very strong current in the tank. I will be sure to feed them well but not over feed
