Homaloptera pics

For the last few days I have seen one or two homaloptera out and about but majority of the time you wouldn't even know they are there, the ones I have seen I have observed chasing very small Cherry shrimp which I think they have been feeding on (good job the tank is over run with them) which was one of the reasons for me adding the shrimp in the first place.

Last night I went into the kitchen and this is the sight that greeted me









It was nice to see them just to be sure they are all feeding ok which by looking at their body size they are, be it on frozen food or shrimp

When I had lots of L. disparis several years ago, I would find them lined up on the glass like that, every morning before the lights came on.

I noticed just now!
It's a mistake that the fish species of my picture a short while ago says Homaloptera.
It may be Crossostoma lacustre Steindachner.

When it's "Cherry shrimp" that I know, it's very expensive as food!

I originally bought 20 cherry shrimp for £10 I now have hundreds and I always seem to have at least 12 berried at any one time. Now that they are more or less self sustaining they work out a cheap and constant food source.

The more I get into Loaches the more I seem to be drawn to the Hillstream species, particularly Homaloptera. As if your tank wasn't beautiful enough already, to see these wonderful and curious little fish clinging to the glass is truly a sight to behold. If that doesn't say "Good Morning", I don't know what does.

Mark I've missed your pic's , I know you've had other things going on in your life ! but boy oh boy your back with a bang , and its a treat for us !

I think if I were a Homaloptera I'd be quite happy to live in that tank

It's a familiar sight with mine as-well, every now and then i seen them plastered on the glass.
