Polkadot Loach ???

Post by MaryJ » Tue Jul 04, 2006 7:06 pm

Is it normal for one of my Polkadot loaches to be laying in a plant leaf? I thought he was dead and shooed him out, just to find him back in the plant again.

Normal?

Post by QueenDustBunny » Tue Jul 04, 2006 10:36 pm

I'm pretty new to htis, but I have 3 polka-dot botias. The smallest one often lingers on the leaves of one plant (near the driftwood). He has scared me a few times into thinking he was in trouble. He seems to do it most in the middle of the day.

I hope this helps and that someone else will concur.

My Clowns have never done this but a yoyo did and it died not long after I had it. That`s why I spazzed out.

Yeah, it is normal behavior for Botia kubotai and many other loaches in fact, to 'air' off in the middle area's of aquariums. A decent water flow will bring out the best of them.
