Albino BNP breeding (journal)...new pics added!

Post by Crissyloach »

So, yesterday morning I noticed different behaviour from my 2 plecos. The female was in his cave, under him. Usually, the female is on one side of the tank, and the male on other. I already knew that it HAD to mean something, and they have reached the breeding age. They were definitely conditioned- lots of veggies fed over the past 3-4 weeks. I wouldn't have thought anything about the female being filled with eggs- she was always fat from the beginning. Anyway, this morning, I woke up, and went to check on them, and turn on the light. Right away, I noticed a cluster of orange eggs! Daddy pleckie is fanning away! :)

I am going to set up the 10 gallon breeder tank for him, his cave, and the eggs- the loaches and other fish are being nosy, and I bet since the eggs are near the front of the cave the moment he turns around, or gets distracted others will go right in, and have a snack.

That is all for now- updates coming soon! :)

Daddy pleckie has quit his fatherly duties. Eggs are going into a breeding trap, with an airstone. Hopefully we get something out of this!

He's a new dad. Maybe they didn't get fertilized. Took mine a little while to figure it out, but they are good to go now.

They are all eating some zucchini now. We lost one, but this is the one who wasn't right since the beginning. The others are still GREAT!!

VERY cool!
thanks for posting.....so what are you feeding those tiny babies?

do you have multiple males with one female....or a pair that you know will breed?
