Nice fish! They are, in my opinion, one of the best botias. These look like they have retained some of the yellow color of the juveniles.

Interesting that they seem to get more silvery with age - like B. almorhae. My histies have all kept a more black than silvery/gold appearance. They're hard to shoot though.

I'd have to agree. A great fish! It is up there with B. striata in regards of how peaceful they are. Mine retained some of their yellowish coloration as well, although most specimens I have seen become silvery like almorhae as they grow older and the longer they live in captivity.

Some have speculated that this is do to the fact that there is something lacking in their diet that is present in their diet while they are in their natural habitat that contributes to their golden coloration; some have speculated that these could be shrimp, larvae, some sort of mollusk, etc.

I didnt do anything special in terms of feeding them that made them keep the gold. A daily supplement of flakes, sinking wafers and bloodworms was all.
