actually has some nice pictures and some interesting info. For instance, I bet that no one here knew that S.Pridii is also known (in English) as Tweedi's Hillstream Loach ???

If anyone actually looks at the site...some comments on his Acanthocobitis urophthalmus would be appreciated. If the page and pics are to be believed, this is the species I have... so I'm curious.

I've always considered the Acanthocobitis urophthalmus to have more solid stripes, rather than broken ones. One ponders!

Also interesting on that they are using Tuberoschistura arakanensis as the Rosy Loach.

I've seen this site before. I also noted the following:

Gastromyzon lepidogaster = NO WAY that's a Gastromyzon (Beaufortia?)
Gastromyzon ctenocephalus = Gastromyzon occelatus....I forgive that one (we were guilty till fairly recently)
Homaloptera orthogoniata = H. confuzona
Lepidocalichthys sp. = Lepidocephalus macrochir
Leptobotia pellegrini = Leptobotia elongata
Pangio anguillaris = Pangio doriae
....and the classic
Sinibotia rostrata = Botia kubotai

how do you know this? I thought that the markings are nearly identical, and one should use your scale chart to determine the species?
(Incidentally, something I should do here -- I was just unable to take sufficiently good photos here....if there is another test it would be nice.)

H. orthogoniata tends to have 3 distinct saddles over the back.

With H. confuzona, the front and rear ones are far less defined and thinner. Basically, confuzona has more base color showing than orthogoniata.

I can't hot-link his picture, but it looks substantially smoother scaled than orthogoniata.

i like that site for looking at porn. there are so many photos of so many fish. most people here must be used to looking at other sources of info on loaches and taking details with a pinch of salt. at least here it says clown loaches reach 35cm. a lot bigger than quite a lot of other sources i can think of.

I've tried to attach (poor) images of a live A. urophthalmus from Sri Lanka (where the true urop is found), but you cant attach images direct from your PC like you can on Petfrd?. The photo of live fish is from Pethiyagoda's FF of Sri Lanka. He says there are two forms there with different colours and vertical banding (but no thick line running laterally through body like the fish Mick the Fish is breeding).
Also a colour drawing from Deraniyagala's Fishes of Ceylon (Sri Lanka), again with no solid body band.

I think Mick's fish may be undescribed? Not sure on this though.

Yes, they worked but i edited them to IMG from URL. What i normally do is use the IMG from Photobucket. (copy and paste the whole img link from selected pictures)
