stess-coat, prime and aqua-plus are all good 'slime enhancers' IMO

but i'd stay away from the salt..loaches tend to not like it..

maybe get some pima-fix? that supposedly stops it from getting infected.

Sorry to hear about your loach, I was going to suggest Melafix but I have heard that loaches, especially weather, hate it. I am treating a severe puncture wound on one of my silver dollars with it and it seems to be working wonders. You might want to check and see if the type of loach you have is tolerate of the melafix.

The other suggestions I have gotten is just good clean water, perhaps more frequent small water changes and keep a close eye on him.

Good luck,
Kris

I tried out melafix on my weather loach, hasn't seemed to agitate him whatsoever. In fact, he seemed completely unaffected, in terms of stress.

Only fish I've had that's ever been agitated by pima/melafix is my rainbow shark in the other tank, Tanooki  Because he sure doesn't like taking his medacine for his barbels. It stings when the bacteria gets attacked I think, he puts up a bit of fuss. After he's quite pleased, though.
It's pretty gentle on loaches.

I am glad to hear that as it seems to be working wonders on my silver dollars puncture wound. I just remember reading somewhere that they hated it. I lost one of my dojo's last week and stumbled upon this when searching for meds to try to save him. I am new to loaches but love these dojo's! Glad you guy came out ok, did you get that hole fixed?
