! After worrying about the disappearance of my long-nosed loach as well as the health of the others (due to new tank ammonia level) I am so relieved to report that all seems well today. "Gator" (long-nosed loach looks a lilttle like a miniature aligator 
) is back! Fed some wafers - recommended on this site) and they all came swimming up & eating like crazy. Went and got "Prime" (also recommended on this site) and the ammonia level is a lot better.
So, for now all is well - I'm happy and my little ones seem happier than before!
