Treating loaches with ich..

Post by m_hsiao » Wed Mar 21, 2007 1:41 pm

i'm currently treating my loches with ich right now with ich guard.. i'm aware of the doses, water changes and the temperature parts of treatment.. but do i remove the decorations and leave them to dry before putting it back in after the treatment or will the ich guard treat the decorations as well since it'll be killing the bacterias? any suggestions? and i just went in to a fish store and picked up a few horseface loaches, should i insert them into the tank or should i put it in a seperate tank till the treatment is done? the owner at the store says it's fine to put the horseface loaches in as the ich guard will prevent the horseface loaches from getting ich? suggestions and help please. thanks for you time

No need to remove the decorations.

Make sure to half-dose.

Treat for at least 3 days (better 5-6) after all visible signs of infection disappear.

Do not put any new fish into the tank while it has ich. Ich Guard usually works, but the success rate is not 100% (like with any other ich med), and you don't need to risk more lives.

in ALL cases new fish should be quarantined, it may carry something even worse than Ich.

Good luck.
