I just love those. I really do - don´t know why. Perhaps, because I had one a loooong time ago - and it was areal cool loach. I was quit sad when I lost mine these days

But seeing xours gives me hope, there may be some more available here as well some day.

graeme, just on a point of interest on your fish, are they all the same in pattern that is as the 10 that i have no 2 are alike.
some are like yours highly blotched or have you a few that are more finely mottled as i have.?

I've just emerged from my replendishing immersion in fire and brimstone. Anyway, back to fish......

I have an image or drawing of every valid species of Lepidocephalichthys and these appear to be a new species to me. I know what you are saying about birmanicus Graeme, but please see attached original drawing of birmanicus. Your fish dont appear to have the caudal fin as boldly patterned, and photo's of specimens of birmanicus appear to show them having a sandy base colour, whereas yours are blueish grey.

I have looked in the 7 Vietnamese fish books I have and these arent in them.

thanks for that steve, personally it might be better if graeme and i take pics of every one of this fish,
the pattern is so variable, some of mine have a very faint line from the gill to the peduncle, which i think are the males, the females have a bolder pattern the same as graemes pics, the largest ive got areroughly 2inchs SL.

great set of pics luv, some are very similar to the ones i picked up.
it should help in giving the fish a name, unless it's an unidentified specie that is.

Cheers Steve. Yeah, it was also the caudal fin markings that i was pondering on with a possible L birmanicus. But ours don't seem so bold.

ive caught and taken pics of mine but i'm having a bit of trouble getting in photobucket at the moment ,
will post as soon as i can get in.

Haha! I know. It's just that they are in a large tank and while watching them from a distance is fine, taking a picture is almost impossible unless i rip apart the tank and place them into a photo tank.

I'll see if i have time this weekend for pictures.

I likes the mottled one, thats a totally different looking chap to any of mine. All of mine are the same as the other ones you posted.
